If you identify as female, trans, non-binary, genderfluid, genderqueer, gender nonconforming or intersex, we invite you to come dance, sing and express yourself Saturday, November 24!
All ages welcome!
New dancers encouraged to come! All skill-levels welcome.

WHAT WE'RE UP TO:
We're creating a space to have fun and consider issues important to us:
6:45 PM - Beginner's Lesson
7:00 PM - Contra Dancing
8:00 PM - Group Singing
8:15 PM - "Active Consent" Workshop
9:00 PM - Contra Dancing
10:00 PM - End with a Group Song
Teaching by Dela Taylor Murphy and other skilled callers.
Open band featuring Clara Constance Stickney, Lauren McDonald and other talented performers.
Group singing led by Gretchen Hanes.
(You're invited! If you're a musician or caller who would like to join in, get in touch asap with Dela at email@example.com!)
The "Active Consent" workshop will be in the middle of the dance. Through experiential activities, dancers will experiment with language/actions they can take on/off the dance floor to cultivate higher levels of bodily autonomy and physical/psychological safety. Great for dancers of all skill levels.
Pay what you can - Recommended donation from $1 - $20
All proceeds go to ACLU of Maine and Planned Parenthood.
Parking is on-street in the State Street/West End neighborhood. In Portland, metered parking on Thursdays after 6pm is free. We recommend saving a bit of time to find a spot.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO CONTRA DANCE:
Come! All dances are taught as we go along and the moves repeat, so it's relatively easy to pick up the dance quickly. Also, there's no fancy footwork. We recommend jumping right in and dancing with the many experienced dancers who are happy to help you along. :)
