physical improv for dancers

  • Mount Arat Middle School 58 Republic Avenue Topsham, ME USA (map)

Physical Improv is a playshop for dancers.  In this one-hour session, you'll explore intuitive movement and expand your ability to move in unexpected ways and delight your body through improvisation.  You'll also raise your awareness of what it feels like to relate with other dancers and practice your ability to establish safe intimacy.

This session is hosted as part of the 26th Annual DownEast Country Dance Festival, a Maine-based weekend long celebration of traditional dance and music.  View a schedule and purchase festival tickets via the DownEast Friends of the Folk Arts event page

You'll leave feeling uninhibited and able to create deep, fluid connections with other dancers.

love from folks who've experienced this playshop:

"I would like to give a thank you and a shout out to Dela Carol Taylor and her Improv workshop. I don't think any of us knew what to expect going in, and I can say it was one of the most original and engaging workshops I have ever had at a dance weekend. Invite her to your weekend, your dancers will thank you!"

"One item that I was enjoying co-noticing with other participants - everyone from the workshop who I met as a neighbor there was such a flash of connection and deeper intimacy than the average in the room. We all were benefiting immediately feeling more open and connected."

"[Dela's] workshop added new dimensions to my dancing experience. It connected me more deeply with the people in the class who I then danced with the rest of the night. It also gave me different aspects of space and connection to incorporate in to my dance experiences going forward. The class boosted my confidence in connecting with people/dancers on different levels and eliminating judgement of how other dancers interacted with me."
